Tram: Take tram lines 17, 19, or 41 and hop off at Szent Lukács Gyógyfürdő stop, right outside the entrance.
Bus: Buses 9, 26, 923, and 934 all stop nearby at Margit híd, budai hídfő (H), just a short five-minute walk from the baths.
Train (HÉV): The H5 suburban railway also stops at Margit híd, budai hídfő, making it convenient for visitors coming from northern districts.
Car: Paid street parking is available in the surrounding streets. Public transport is recommended, as spaces can be limited, especially on weekends.
The main entrance is on Frankel Leó út 25–29, clearly marked with “Szent Lukács Gyógyfürdő és Uszoda.” You’ll spot it by the historic yellow facade and the statue-lined courtyard leading into the lobby.
While wheelchairs can navigate the ground floor, there are no pool lifts or accessibility features. There are also steps to reach other pools, so the baths are only partially accessible. Try Gellért or Széchenyi Thermal Baths for a more accessible Budapest bath experience.

What to See & Do
Lukács Thermal Bath offers centuries-old thermal pools, private baths, detoxifying saunas, and rooftop relaxation.
Thermal Pools
Step into history and healing at the Lukács Thermal Baths’ famous medicinal pools. The mineral-rich waters, naturally heated to 32°C, 36°C, and 40°C, are known for their therapeutic benefits, easing muscle tension and joint pain.
Two outdoor swimming pools heated to 22°C and 26°C are also available for those seeking laps rather than leisure.
Fun fact: The baths have been a wellness hotspot since the 12th century, attracting monks and pilgrims seeking the waters’ curative powers.
Wellness Pools and Kneipp Path
For a refreshing twist, alternate between the warm outdoor leisure pool and the invigorating 20°C plunge pool, or test your circulation with the Kneipp pool’s cool foot bath. The hot and cold water combo stimulates blood flow and energizes you from head to toe.
Tip: Try walking barefoot through the Kneipp path. It’s a traditional hydrotherapy technique said to boost immunity and vitality.
Sauna World
Head into Sauna World for the ultimate detox. From the classic Finnish and infrared saunas to the salt crystal sauna and aroma steam room, each space offers a unique wellness experience. The tepidarium provides gentler heat and is ideal for unwinding after a swim, and there’s also a cold water plunge pool for the brave.
Fun fact: The naturist sauna is available for those who prefer a traditional, clothing-free sauna experience.
Rooftop Sunbathing and Fitness Park
On warmer days, go to the rooftop terrace for sunbathing and light exercise. The open-air fitness park is perfect for stretching between pool dips. Just try not to get distracted by the panoramic Buda views.
Tip: The rooftop area is open seasonally (May to October), so plan your visit in summer for the complete experience.
Wellness and Medical Treatments
After your soak, indulge in one of the bath’s rejuvenating massages. Choose between the refreshing massage to boost circulation or the aromatic massage for relaxation.
Fun fact: Lukács Baths are one of the few places in Budapest where you can still receive traditional medicinal treatments prescribed by doctors. This includes underwater traction, bathing in carbonated water, and mud therapy using mineral-rich Kolop mud, known for easing joint pain and revitalizing the skin.
Private Bathing
Looking for a romantic and restorative bath experience? Book a private thermal suite for two. You’ll enjoy three hours of exclusive access to your mineral bath, with champagne and a private rest area.
Tip: With the growing popularity of private bathing, it’s best to reserve your spot in advance to avoid disappointment.
Sauna World
Nothing says a unique Budapest experience like hopping into a 45-minute Beer Spa session. You soak in a blend of thermal water and beer ingredients like hops and malt, while sipping unlimited fresh beer from your tap.
It sounds bizarre, but the natural ingredients nourish your skin and hair, so you don’t have to feel guilty guzzling beer. The experience is practically good for you.
Fun fact: While beer spas are a Czech tradition, Budapest’s version adds a thermal twist you won’t find anywhere else.
Lockers and Safety Deposits
Every ticket includes access to changing cabins and lockers to store your belongings safely. You activate lockers with a smart wristband received upon entry. Safety deposit boxes are available for extra peace of mind for smaller or valuable items.
Budapest Spas Shop
Before you leave, stop by the Budapest Spas Shop for handmade soaps, Kolop mud packs, or a traditional pestemal towel perfect for sauna sessions. These make great gifts or reminders of your bathing experience. The shop also stocks bathrobes, slippers, swimming caps, and towels.
Tip: You can reheat the Kolop mud with thermal water at home for a soothing DIY spa treatment.
